This large stoneware bowl is hand-thrown on the wheel. Once trimmed, the bowl was carved, free-hand, with the illustration of a ruffled grouse tucked into a nest of blooms.
Each animal in my work is reflective of a person in my life, and the grouse tells the story of my mother. While her death muted many of the memories I have of her, our shared love of flowers is something that has continued through my life and into my work.
The bowl is finished in a clear (interior) and electric indigo on the exterior.
The best part? This statement piece is totally functional. Display is as art in your home, or use it to collect memories of your own.
