Stop and Smell the Tulips Vase

$243.00
Sold Out

This matte black vase was hand-thrown, trimmed, illustrated, and carved! Rabbits were carefully sketched and then carved through the clay by scratching away at the outer painted layer, revealing the gorgeous black-brown beneath.

The rabbits enjoy two different flowers, tulips on one side, and exaggerated buttercups on the other. Between each set at some petals traveling up the midline of the vase.

The exterior was left raw to highlight the beauty of the clay and the texture of the relief carving while the inside was glazed in a soft pink opal.

Flowers are something my mother and I always shared, so these are drawn fondly with love for her. My mother is depicted as a ruffled grouse in my work, so you might be wondering who the other rabbit is. I hope to have a daughter some day, so this vase shares love for my mother before me and, hopefully, my daughter afterward.

A love letter for us gals and our love of blooms.
